We will forever be grateful to Instagram for connecting us with this sweet couple! Only a few days after Randell proposed, Fawn was searching Instagram hashtags and came across one of our pictures. She visited our profile, clicked the link to our website, and then filled out our contact form. And every moment with them since receiving that email has been so fun!
During a Skype call full of technical difficulties we laughed through (we'll have to tell you that story later), we asked them to share with us the beginning of their love story. And what a great one it is, full of secret crushes and a chance connection on move in day.
You see, back in the spring of 2013, Fawn was moving into the same apartment complex Randell lived in. He saw her trying to carry a huge box from her car up to her second story apartment, and offered to help her. Fawn politely declined, and Randell stood and watched her try to move this heavy box by herself for a little bit. Then he said, "I'm going to help you anyway," and helped her move her stuff in. They both developed a crush on one another that day but didn't act on it. They had a great group of neighbors who became friends, and they would often hang out together in the breezeway area between all their apartments. But it wasn't until a year and a half later when Randell, who had since moved to a different city in the DFW area, came back to their old apartment complex for a mutual friend's birthday party that they finally got together. In Fawn's own words, she says, "He found out I was single and never left my side that night. We've been together ever since."
If you've been around the Jason & Melaina blog long, you've noticed we have a real soft spot for photographing our J&M Sweethearts' engagement portrait session in a location very meaningful to them. We feel like this helps us authentically tell the love story of our couples through their engagement and wedding photography. So when we were chatting with Randell & Fawn about where we should meet up with them for their engagement session, it seemed only natural we should photograph them at their old apartment complex and the park where Randell proposed.
So we began the session on the staircase where Randell & Fawn would sit and let their two dogs play, and even photographed them in the "breezeway bar" where they spent countless evenings with their friends. Some of the friends who still live in the complex even made a surprise appearance in the background! Then we drove over to the park where Randell & Fawn walk their dogs. On the evening he proposed, Randell walked Fawn across the bridge and led her to a picnic he had set out for the two of them. It was there Randell asked Fawn to marry him and she said yes. So as the sun was setting on their engagement session, it was the perfect backdrop as they held one another where they had said yes to their forever only a few months ago.
Randell & Fawn,
From the moment you texted us pictures of you and your dogs, we knew we were going to love getting to know y'all! And getting to finally meet you in person proved it. We're so glad you guys picked us to be your photographers, and we can't wait to meet up again in August for your wedding day!
ps- Did y'all get all the mud out of your shoes? Because it took me forever!
