We have been truly blessed to a part of Steven & Erin’s wedding story. And I’m not just writing that because it’s a nice thing to say about a couple’s wedding and a good way to start a blog post. At every single encounter we’ve had with Steven & Erin in the short 5 weeks of their engagement (more on that later!), we’ve witnessed first-hand their love for God and how that is truly the foundation of their relationship. And to be honest, it’s been inspiring for us.
Steven & Erin first met through Cornerstone, a ministry to single adults in the Waco area, at a game night hosted at Central Presbyterian Church. Later, when Erin decided to get out of her comfort zone and take a dance class, Steven and some other friends from Cornerstone joined her. Through these weekly dance classes Steven & Erin’s friendship grew. Soon they began hanging out just the two of them, and this foundation of friendship grew into a deep love.
After only a few months together they knew they were heading towards marriage, so they began discussing when and how it would happen. Both Steven & Erin’s schedules revolve around the academic calendar, so getting married before the semester started was ideal. Which is how after becoming officially engaged after praying together in Erin’s apartment in June, they had only about 5 weeks to plan their August wedding. But that was more than enough time to plan an intimate and meaningful ceremony that was perfect for them!
There are so many moments I want to tell you about from Steven & Erin’s wedding. Like how we planned a first look because Erin didn’t want to spend so much time on pictures after the ceremony. And then how they made their time together before their ceremony even more memorable by Steven playing “In Christ Alone” for Erin on the piano, and the two sang in worship together. I want to tell you how Steven & Erin had a moment in their ceremony where her parents and his aunt and uncle (who were standing in the place of his parents who regrettably couldn’t be there suddenly) prayed a blessing over the couple, praying for God to always be the foundation of their marriage that was beginning today. I want to tell you how Steven & Erin specifically requested us to photograph them praying together at the altar after their ceremony, a remembrance of their time spent praying together for their future marriage in a small chapel while on a pre-marital counseling retreat.
There were so many beautiful moments, full of meaning, during Steven & Erin’s wedding day. And the fact they chose Central Presbyterian here in Woodway as their venue, the very place they met for the first time all those months ago in Cornerstone, just brought full circle God’s presence and provision in their relationship.
Steven & Erin,
It was a true honor to help plan and photograph your wedding story. Not only did we feel encouraged by your relationship, and fall in love with the beautiful chapel at Central Presbyterian, we also feel we’ve gained a pair of good friends from our time with you. We pray God continues to grow you together as you go forward in marriage. Congratulations you two!
Love, J & M
