Garrett & Kelli have a love story that’s made for 2018. They were matched on a dating site but didn’t message each other right away. One day while Kelli was at the gym, she almost literally ran into a guy while walking through the gym. She and the guy gave each other side-eye, and then continued on their way.

A few moments later Kelli’s phone buzzed with a message from the guy she had been matched with, asking if she was at the gym. At first, Kelli worried he was following her in real life. But then she quickly realized the guy she almost ran into was the same guy from the site. Turns out they frequented the same gym, and so Garrett came back over and they chatted. Conversations led to dates, which led to a relationship, which led to us meeting them in College Station for their fun engagement session.

It’s so fun to watch our Sweetheart couples’ personalities come out during the engagement sessions. One of the things we like to tell them to do is to whisper in each other’s ear. Some couples get super romantic and sweet, and then others try to make each other laugh. Garrett & Kelli were definitely the latter, whispering funny words into each other’s ears, trying to get the other one to crack up. They are definitely a couple who laughs together often, so it’s no surprise their engagement session was full of laughter...especially when we were all trying to get their two sweet puppies to look our way. The only thing not funny was how hot it was outside this evening. But a little heat was worth that pretty Texas sunset sky.

Luckily it won’t be hot for their late October wedding. Their beautiful Catholic ceremony and Gatsby-themed warehouse reception are going to be so fun. And with these two, we know we’re going to all have a fun and laughter-filled day!

Dear Garrett & Kelli,

It was so fun to meet your sweet Zeus and Zelda, and to just hang out with you again.  Thanks for braving the heat and the insects with us for this session. We had a blast and can't wait to see ya'll again in October! And it won't be summer so YAY!

We're so excited to tell y’all the love story of these two, because it is the sort of cute, everyday love story that shows finding your perfect person is possible.

Misael & Ellisa met at a mutual friend’s house party. Misael, tired from working a long day, was sitting quietly on the couch, watching TV. Ellisa came up and sat beside him, and struck up a conversation. She asked him a lot of questions, but being so tired, Misael wasn’t very talkative. Then, when Ellisa went to chat with someone else at the party, Misael left without saying good-bye.

Ellisa thought that was the end of that, and didn't expect to connect with Misael again. She was surprised when their mutual friend told her Misael had asked for her number so he could call and apologize for appearing rude. The apology led to Misael asking Ellisa out on a first date, which led to a more formal second date. It was at this second date Misael likes to joke that Ellisa “fell for him,” since she literally missed the step getting out of his truck and face-planted in the grass right in front of him. Luckily for these two, laughter is one of their defining marks as a couple, so they laughed it off and have been together ever since.

One of their favorite ways to spend time together is visiting Misael’s family’s ranch. Ellisa enjoys spending time with his family and his mom’s home-cooking. Both Misael and Ellisa work with cows, so they also like to drive out on the property to check in on the cows and enjoy the country views. When Misael decided to propose to Ellisa he picked his family’s ranch as the perfect spot, during one of their drives out in the field on the gator.

Ellisa noticed Misael seemed a little off or nervous that night, but wasn’t really sure what was going on. When he suggested they go for a ride in the gator, she didn’t think it was anything out-of-the-ordinary. Yet when she went to open the glove compartment, Misael freaked out and told her not to look in there. She thought that was weird, but he played it off and off they went for their drive. Little did Ellisa know that her engagement ring was riding along in the glove compartment, and she had almost ruined the surprise.

Misael drove Ellisa out under a tree on a hill that overlooks the ranch. And as her back was turned to him, looking out over the view, he got down on one knee behind her and touched her leg. She swatted his hand away, thinking he was messing with her. But when he kept touching her leg, she turned around and realized what was happening. Misael asked her to spend forever with him as his wife, and she said yes! And so the wedding planning began!

When we were meeting with them and discussing their engagement session, they brought up the idea of doing their session at Misael’s family’s ranch, photographing them at the same spot Misael had proposed. We loved the idea! I mean, how cool will it be to show your children an engagement photo and tell them that’s the exact spot where your dad proposed to me?!?

So we drove out to Dublin, Texas on Sunday to photograph these two Sweethearts for their engagement portraits.

Being with Misael & Ellisa again reminded us just how much fun they are as a couple. They laughed so much during their session, and caused us to laugh along with them. Especially when we wanted the cows in the background of their portrait and had to call on their parents to herd them around for us.

The joy they have in their relationship is so evident you just know they are going to have such a happy marriage, full of love and laughter. And it all started with an awkward conversation at a friend's party!

Dear Misael & Ellisa,

We had a blast being with you guys out in Dublin! Thank you so much for showing us your ranch and letting us meet your sweet family. And thank you for the reminder of how fun love can be! We pray you continue to laugh together as you finish up your wedding plans...and for the rest of your lives!

Dustin & Virginia | Engagement Portraits in Belton | Belton, Texas

A couple holds one another and looks into each other's eyes during their engagement session in Yettie Polk Park in Belton, Texas

Dustin & Virginia hold a special place in our hearts! One of Dustin’s sisters, Melanie, is a friend of ours at church, and we’ve even photographed her family a couple of times. Dustin’s other sister, Pamela, along with her husband, Michael, were one of our 2017 Sweetheart couples. (See their beautiful spring wedding at La Rio Mansion here.)

So when Dustin, Melanie, and Pamela’s mom reached out to us to see if we had Dustin’s wedding date available, we were so happy to find that we did! We feel like we already know Dustin & Virginia through working with Dustin’s family multiple times, and even meeting them at Michael & Pamela’s wedding. Now that we’re joining Dustin & Virginia’s wedding day team, it feels like we are their family’s official photographers. And we love that!

Even though we had met Dustin & Virginia before, we didn’t know their love story. So it was so sweet to read what Dustin wrote to us about how he & Virginia’s story began.

These two Sweethearts met when Virginia began working at the same restaurant as Dustin. Though there was immediate attraction, dating was out of the question since Dustin was Virginia’s supervisor. But when she switched to another restaurant, this opened up the door for their relationship to officially begin.

There was a hiccup in their story, however, when Virginia moved to New Orleans and then back to Honduras. The two stayed in contact as best as they could, but the future of their relationship seemed uncertain with the distance between them.

Then one day while at work, Dustin received a text from Virginia, telling him to go outside. Unsure of what was happening, Dustin walked outside to find Virginia standing there in person. And as Dustin says, “The rest is history.” These Sweethearts picked up where they left off, and now they are a few weeks out from their wedding day.

And we can’t wait to be there with them at the end of June, documenting this next chapter in their love story as their marriage begins!

Dear Dustin & Virginia,

We are so glad to get to know you two, and so honored you've chosen us to document your love story. We can't wait to be with you again at the end of June! And sometime soon we'll have to get a taste of your famous BBQ!
