Remington & Marley | Blush & Gold Warehouse Wedding | Hillsboro, Texas

Since Remington & Marley live in Tennessee, our relationship with them has been mostly via email. Well, except for their sunrise engagement session they met us for back in December. So we were excited to be with them again on their gorgeous wedding day!

Remington & Marley chose The Eagle Historic Warehouse in Hillsboro, Texas for their special day, and it was the perfect venue for them. The exposed bricks and open expanse of the space gives a great warehouse vibe, a perfect blank canvas to transform into your dream space. And that’s just what Marley’s mom and sisters did!

We’ve never seen such a beautiful treatment to a warehouse venue, with blush curtains separating the ceremony site from the bar and reception area. Then, after dinner, the curtains were tied back and framed the dance floor, creating a great atmosphere for guests to dance the night away.

Curtains weren’t the only beautiful ideas Marley’s mother and sisters came up with. They spray painted hula hoops in gold to create the ceremony backdrop, as well as old frames to provide more gold touches throughout the reception space. There was a gorgeous seating area in the back of the space, filled with flowers and vintage furniture that complemented the wedding colors.

While the decor transformed the Eagle Historic into a beautiful space, it was made even more magical by the joyful moments throughout the day. We never get tired of being flies on the wall when a bride and groom have a first look before their wedding ceremony, and Remington & Marley were no exception to this. Seeing their genuine delight and joy when Remington turned around to see his bride for the first time was so special.

Another special aspect of these Sweethearts’ wedding day was the love surrounding them in their family and friends. Many friends from Tennessee joined in the wedding day festivities. Marley’s closest friends were in her bridal party, and her childhood best friends do her hair and makeup for her big day. Remington’s friends were fun too, dancing together and singing along to any lyric that gave a special shout out to Tennessee throughout the reception.

These two Sweethearts spent a magical day celebrating this new chapter in their story. And as the day came to an end, the walked hand-in-hand through a tunnel of loved ones and sparklers, heading off to their next adventure.

Marco & Heather | Texas Wedding at Moon River Ranch | Satin, Texas

A cowboy and his bride look into one another’s eyes outside of Moon River Ranch on their wedding day | Jason & Melaina Photography | www.jasonandmelaina.com

Photographing weddings at Moon River Ranch is one of our favorite things. Not just because the venue itself is gorgeous (which it is). But because of the camp-like atmosphere the venue brings to our Sweethearts weddings.

We know that a Moon River Ranch wedding is going to bring together the bride and groom’s families and friends for multiple days, and give them opportunities to bond together over playing in the pool, skeet shooting, yard games, hay rides, and all the wedding activities. So on the wedding day, it’s like there’s one big happy family all celebrating the couple together. That makes for a magical start to a marriage, and Marco & Heather’s wedding was no exception.

Marco & Heather are one of the sweetest, most genuine couples we’ve met. So it was no surprise their families and friends were just as lovely. When we arrived at Moon River on their wedding day, May 25th, Heather was with her bridesmaids getting hair and make up done. I (Melaina) photographed them as they told stories of European vacations, and laughed over shared memories together. Jason went to join Marco and his groomsmen shooting skeet, and photographed them as they had a friendly competition and joked around.

When all the girls were ready, we snuck them outside to get some portraits of Heather and her girls, making sure Marco was not going to see her. Then, when it was time for Marco and his guy’s portraits, Heather requested we take all the guys and get a photo in front of the smoker with a Texas flag. Marco was the only one that lives in the US, with his groomsmen being brothers and cousins from Italy, or a close friend from Ireland by way of Canada. To see all these guys in their cowboy hats, bolos, jeans, and boots was a quite a Texas moment, and Heather wanted to make sure it was documented.

Marco & Heather wanted to see each other before their ceremony, but they wanted it to be a special, private moment between them. So we brought them into the chapel for a romantic first look. After this special moment, it was time to get ready for the ceremony, and party on into the night.

There were so many special, little moments throughout Marco & Heather’s wedding day. Seeing Heather walked down the aisle by both her grandfathers was a very sentimental moment. As was seeing her brother ring the church bell when she and Marco were pronounced husband & wife. Seeing the love these Sweethearts have for one another, written all over their faces when they were sharing their personal vows.

Sneaking them out of their reception to photograph them at sunset under an expansive Texas sky. Watching them open and pour the largest bottle of champagne we’ve seen, brought to Texas by Marco’s father especially for his wedding day. Hearing Marco & Heather’s best friends and siblings share heartfelt toasts. Watching them and all their family and friends dance the night away, building memories that will last a lifetime.

And then at the end of the night, Marco & Heather ran through a tunnel of loved ones, holding high sparklers, as they started their new life together.

Bret & Sidney | Tarleton State University Engagement Session | Stephenville, Texas

A couple kisses under the large trees in Memorial Park at Tartleton State University, Stephenville, Tx - Jason & Melaina Photography - www.jasonandmelaina.com

I (Melaina) met Sidney, her mom, and Bret’s mom at the With This Ring Bridal Show in January of this year. We really hit it off and I was secretly hoping they’d pick us as the perfect photographers for their wedding. So when Sidney won a free bridal portrait from us at the show, that sealed the deal for all of us. And luckily so, because Sidney was the 5th bride that day who came to our booth with an October 5, 2019 wedding date, so I’m glad she made her decision that afternoon and didn’t wait!

A few months later, we met Bret & Sidney for a coffee double-date in downtown Waco and learned more about their love story. They grew up in the same area and had known each other since middle school. But it was their high school job as lifeguards at the local pool that brought them together. They began dating Sidney’s senior year of high school, and have been inseparable ever since.

Sidney’s loves Christmas, so Bret knew he needed to incorporate her favorite holiday in his proposal. On a trip to visit a large Christmas light trail in the DFW area, Bret had a large bridge covered in Christmas lights cleared so just he and Sidney could be alone. Then, when it was just the two of them, he asked her to be his wife. She said yes, and suddenly they were surrounded by family and friends to celebrate. Such a romantic holiday proposal!

Since their engagement, Bret & Sidney have been busy planning their October 5th wedding...and being college students at Tarleton State University. Bret graduates this year, but Sidney still has a little bit more to go. When it came time to pick a location for their engagement portraits session, the college campus where they’ve spent most of their relationship together made perfect sense.

Tarleton State is such a pretty campus that even if it wasn’t their school, it would have been a beautiful spot for their engagement session. But it was meaningful that it was their school, and it was fun to hear Bret share all these cool details about the campus and culture of Tarleton State. We took some portraits in front of the beautiful president’s home in the middle of campus, and said hi to him when he came out for his evening walk. We stopped in the popular gazebo and let Bret & Sidney have a romantic moment to dance together there. And then they took us to a pretty walkway they often take to get between classes.

Bret & Sidney wanted to showcase a little more of their relationship in this session, and have some fun. So they suggested we get some shots of them long-boarding together. Bret is really talented at it, and he’s been teaching Sidney for a while. Though she feels more confident riding her bike next to him when he long-boards, she was game to try it out in her dress and everything for the session. And she looked great doing it!
